Some of our Members spend a lot of time with us –  volunteering hours to develop the organization, and some spend less - attending events to learn or share, or simply providing monetary support. Each has their own reason for being a part of this network, but most relate to the following:

  • Ensuring that our place doesn't become every place.
  • A commitment to a strong community and thriving local economy with meaningful jobs, a diversity of business owners and involved citizens.
  • A desire for public awareness about the importance of supporting local products, services and retail outlets.
  • A commitment to decreasing negative impacts on our water, forests, and air.
  • A desire to know and do business with others in the community who share similar concerns and values.
  • A need for collaboration that helps reduce costs and increase convenience to make environmental and local business decisions.
  • An interest in modeling sustainable practices for the community.

Our members make Sustainability Commitments for what they can do to benefit our local economy, environment, their workplace and community. Each commitment is unique and each represents some small (or sometimes large) step toward a sustainable community.

Our members are truly local heroes, and we intend to help support them every way possible to ensure that our community continues to thrive with a Local Focus.

Member Benefits

CSBA members receive benefits from their membership. Our membership drive is aimed at increasing the kinds of benefits we can offer. But the benefit that's realized by members is also dependent upon their participation. Contact us for more information on ways to support CSBA through volunteerism, in-kind contributions, and sponsorships. For members who are able to make a greater contribution and impact on the local economy, we offer sustaining memberships with additional benefits, including a prominent presence on the CSBA and Buy Local websites, and inclusion in all CSBA materials.

Here are some of the benefits that we provide to our Members:

  • Listing in our membership directory that may include company name, contact information, website, address, and a description of the business
  • Discounted admission to CSBA networking and educational events such as our Green Monday series, workshops and events with our affiliates.
  • Opportunities to market your businesses, events, and promotions in our new monthly e-newsletter, which reaches all CSBA friends and members as well as through Social Media sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Groupsite.
  • Offer B-B and retail discounts for products and services to other member businesses.
  • Differentiate your business in the marketplace by using the CSBA membership as a marketing tool. All business members are free to use CSBA and Buy Local logos in their publications and advertising.
  • Attend a Green Monday event on the first Monday of every month to network with fellow business owners and participate in our educational discussions on issues relating to local business ownership.
  • Participate in making a difference by becoming an active member of CSBA. We are a volunteer organization, and we depend on the energy of our members to develop and deliver our programs, operate our organization, advocate for local businesses, and pursue grants and other funding sources to enable our programs.
